Navy League Recognizes Wilmington City Officials

Council member Judge Gil Burnett gave an impromptu commentary on Wilmington's
pre-and-early history. He filled in for the scheduled speaker who cancelled because of illness.
Thanks, Gil!

On 13 February Navy League’s Wilmington Council President John Stewart and Awards Chairman Dick Eisenman presented Navy League plagues to Mayor Bill Saffo and Ms. Louise McColl. The plaques are in recognition of their superb organizational efforts in preparing for last spring’s commissioning ceremony of USS North Carolina (SSN 777). Mayor Saffo got the city behind the effort to bring the commissioning to Wilmington; and Ms. McColl’s outstanding coordination--working with many different organizations and committees--resulted in a well-organized and highly successful event.!
