USS Squall (PC 7) Wilmington, NC

The USS Squall visited Wilmington during the city’s annual Riverfest.  This is the first Navy ship visit to the city in recent memory.  The Wilmington Council of the Navy League invited the 18-19 off-duty crew members to a BBQ at the home of Council Past President Harry Otterbein.  Harry presented to the Commanding Officer, LT Emily Cathey, a Navy League cap and a copy of Typhoon, a book written by Council member Captain ‘Cal’ Calhoun, USN (ret).  LT Cathey presented Harry with a US Navy flag that was immediately raised on the flagpole.  During the event, US Congressional Representative Mike McIntyre called to extend best wishes to the crew.
